Has anyone here played this? I know it's vidya but it's a very intense rhythm game and the soundtrack is done by Brian Gibson of Lightning Bolt.

No but i love rhythm games. Great way to experience music and should be more mainstream. I stay away mostly because I’m not a weeb

never played it but occasionally see the RSD release in record shops and am tempted

Yeah i played it. Very tactile. Play it on a huge screen with a bassy sound system and a vibrating controller. Play it from beginning to end without pause without error and you'll be in the zone of zones.
I like rhythm games, but the impression I got is that it's not much of a rhythm game(?)

Oh believe me, it is.

so you want other people to enjoy them and make them popular so you'll feel comfortable liking them? fuck off, you insecure faggot
I played through it in VR. It's brilliant, but honestly I wouldn't hype it up as a rhythm game. The music is an important part of the feel of it but it has virtually none of what makes most rhythm games enjoyable.
Don't get me wrong, if you can convince someone to try it for just five minutes they'll probably be floored, but if they go in purposely expecting a rhythm game they could easily be disappointed.with how that aspect is handled. Even on the store page they quite deliberately brand it as a "rhythm violence" game to separate it from the genre.
It's probably the best game I've played in VR. It looks simple, but once you're in there.. it's such a guttural, primal experience. Pure, reaction based gameplay.
