I was in similar boat as you-- never played a weeb game in my life, but wanted to play Persona 4 because I thought the art style and iconography was cool. I ended up doing so and while I don't regret my decision at all and am like 30 hours into the game, I can't help but feel it doesn't hold my attention as much as if I were to be a weeb. But whatever. It's fun.

It's boring as fuck, 90 hours long, and has some of the most shallow characters I've ever seen in a game. Plus it's full to the brim with anime tropes. If that sounds like your thing, go for it.

Idk I really enjoyed it. I'm on the NG+ right now. Soundtrack is nice too. Worth trying out at least.

it's like a visual novel with the worst parts of JRPGs tacked on
if you've ever seen footage of like an early final fantasy or pokemon or something and thought it looked grindy, Persona is so much worse
