Would ''black music'' even be a thing if not for slavery and they weren't trafficked and forced to move to America?
>>74362239
Yes. It would just be different.
>>74362239
Wasn't a lot of the blues about being in jail and shit? Niggers would still be niggers tbhfam
Probably not as widespread or prominent as it is today, but I believe it would exist due to immigration. Probably be quite different to if we assume the economic disparity didn't develop as it had.
>>74362239
no, black people didnt exist before being trafficked into the Americas
>>74362335
Jazz and the blues didnt.
>>74362239
Forced to move to America by their own people.
>>74362379
"their own people"
You can't ask a question like that in history. If x didn't happen a million other things could've that could potentially cause x to still happen, something similar, or something completely different.
not without the white man's instruments
>>74362239
Have you not heard African music
>>74362964
>African """"music""""
>>74362239
>no jazz
>no blues

>no soul
>no funk
>no rock

why is this thread still up? do the mods on here frequent /pol/ or something?
>>74363052
Its a legitimate thread discussing the history of black music in American history and the importance of the history, why would it get deleted?
>>74362983
It sounds good
Most people don't even know that traditional African music exists, mistaking it for African-American music. Also, the fact is, traditional African music is the closest relative of traditional European music.
