i think you're totally right that there's a kind of sonic overlap. and with the fantasy themes of Garden of Delete there's even a conceptual overlap.

I would love to start seeing some dungeon-ey vaporwave or vice versa

well, some norwegians did synth stuff as early as 90, but it didn't sound as cheesy as varg though, and didn't involve fantasy imagery
