What are some bands/artists that have or had a genuine rivalry and/or tension between them, not just a media born publicity thing?

I know that Oasis resented Nirvana for being much better and much more popular than them but I think it was pretty one-sided.
Biggie and Tupac actually hated each other at least in the months leading up to their deaths
Kiedis was just threatened that Mike could do what he does but a bajillion times better

Actually the whole Oasis/Nirvana thing was extremely contrived. Noel Gallagher (and also Damon Albarn) have always said they were fans of Nirvana and really respected Kurt Cobain, but that they weren't all that keen on a lot of the other Grunge stuff. Noel also said that he wrote Live Forever because of Nirvana doing I Hate Myself and Want to Die, but even then said he liked him.

Oasis loved Nirvana. They just didn't care much for the over-the-top fatalism and self-pity of the grunge movement.
echo & the bunnymen and u2, though i think it was mostly one way traffic
Waters and Gilmour
Billy Corgan vs. Steve Malkmus

tbf I can understand Billy not finding the humour in it, but when he started getting them kicked off bills and even holding a grudge about it now he definitely became "in the wrong"
