Just got back my old fender powerhouse strat from ~ 1999.

I havent played in years. What are some good electric strings these days?

Also, looks liek there's some rust on the pickups. Mother of pearl pick guard turned yellow, and the rosewood lined fret dried up. Screws are rusted, and I'm almost certain the 9v battery from the active pickups may have assploded (I havent opened it up yet). Is it worth refurbishing?

Is there such a thing as a notched volume pot for guitar?

Say I want to play with Volume at 7 most of the time, but when it's time to rock a solo, I can crank it up to 10, but then I want to go back to exactly where I was before on the volume knob just by feeling it have a little resistance or something at the 7 mark.

If you just want to play simple rock and metal, just learn the major scale modes. If you want to add more flavor to your rock and metal playing, learn the harmonic minor modes.

If you want to play jazz or fusion or just want to add interesting tension to your rock and metal playing, learn the melodic minor modes.

In my opinion, whole tone scale gets used the least across the board. Diminished scales are pretty versatile across many genres to outline tense, unresolved chords.

Get a pot with a push-push toggle and wire it so that the toggle bypasses the pot in the circuit. So set the nob at your preferred regular volume, and then press in/out for your full volume lead.
