these are both 10/10's and gbv is criminally under appreciated, pavement lays claim to the best indie record of the 90s though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure in the real music world outside of /mu/ Bee Thousand is highly celebrated.

I've loved the album for many years. Excellent lyrics, memorable riffs, an album in which its lo-fi-ness actually adds to the overall sound. The backstory of the album is also really something, the 33 1/3 book is impeccably detailed.

I'm a big fan of these two albums as well. I prefer Bee Thousand to them though. Mag Earwhig and Under the Bushes Under the Stars are a couple more favorite GBV albums that I think everyone should check out.

echos myron and tractor rape chain are really good but i could live without a lot of the other songs

Pavement, Built to Spill, and Modest Mouse all had better albums. Those guys are just better songwriters with better character compared to GBV. The complexity is much deeper.

The story behind the song is also very powerful. Basically Robert, the singer/main songwriter, was walking around the house while high on LSD and walked past a bathroom mirror and saw himself transform into his son and it emotionally effected him deeply. He then wrote that song right after that experience.

When Robert was putting together Bee Thousand, an album that turns out to be born out of rehashed demos and working with unreleased material, he was listening to a cassette tape and let it run out all the way. At the very end of the tape he found Goldenheart, a song that he had completely forgotten about it and had to put it on the album.
