What's /mu/ think of Tom Waits? He's been good feels music for me lately

Aw yeah I love that dude
>>74298564
yeah I've been feeling him a lot lately, I've taken to calling him "tequila rock" although I'm sure bourbon is more his style.
I just think Hunter S. Thompson like, big sunglasses, big hawaiian shirt, drinking away reality in a dingy jazz bar... that's the life huh.

Easy redpill. Early Tom doesn't stroke my goat desu.

Hard. His early stuff is good, his late stuff is bad and the inbetween is godlike
>>74298619
Dude I feel you. He's that laid back comfortable with his vices and has no plans on changing them. It's like pleasure to him to be sad which is why I listen to it when I'm bumming

Obviously Small Change is an easy go to but A Sight For Sore Eyes off Foreign Affairs gets me as well as the track from my first post

Him and Nick Cave have been tugging on my heartstrings lately.

Tom Waits is sober since '93.
Just be sure to skip his last 2-3 albums and you will be A okay.

Man that's difficult
On one hand the obvious choice would be red, but a lot of times I'm just feeling his early work.

He's okay but I was never crazy into his music. I have some good impressions though. What follows is a true story.
One night in college, a few lads and I, with George Lucas' niece in tow, decided to do some "urban exploration" out in a rural area an hour away. We puttered around some old weird buildings in darkness, and thought we heard some dogs in the distance, so we hightailed it back to the car and bugged out. On the way home, the gentleman driver played Blood Money, especially "God's Away on Business" as the rural night eventually became urban lit tunnels. I will never forget that drive, it was a perfect introduction to the artist.
Better yet, Waits gave way to DJ Shadow's "Stem/Long Stem" when we were pulling into the city tunnels.
I also pass the intersection with some regularity, and I think of its significance when I do so.
