what are some beginner songs to learn?
>>
>>74284009
ok. what about now.
https://clyp.it/j1miwjau

this is the reference
https://clyp.it/vdrfkdnn
>>
>>74284403
Now the vocals are drowning in the mix. Provided you have the separate tracks, eq them out until it stops sounding like shit.
>>
>>74284493
ok will bring the vocals up. hows the master eq so far compared to the reference
>>
>>74284526
>ok will bring the vocals up
That's not what you need to do. You need to create space in the mix so X track doesn't drown out Y.
>>
>>74284544
whatever
>>
>>74284553
Do you understand how frequencies will drown out one another? If not, maybe you should leave mastering to someone who does.
>>
>>74284567
ill just boost some frequencies to make it cut through instead of just turning it up then
>>
>>74284587
Good luck with that.
>>
>>74284601
what i have to know frequencies drownouts besides setting different ranges for each instrument
im not going to cut mids from my guitars just for that shitty vocal to stand out
>>
>>74284663
Like I said, good luck with that. You really should pick up bass instead of guitar.

I tried doing you a favor. Learn to cut frequencies if you want to master anything at all.
>>
>begin to learn a solo
>stop after like 10 minutes because I know I won't remember it anyways
can anybody relate? it also sucks because when you learn with a phone you can't precisely find the moment I'm learning next. I wonder how people had the patience to learn when you only had 45rpm
>>
>>74284821
ok thank you. will do something about the vocals. can you tell how that clyp's eq is sounding compared to the reference?
>>
>>74285324
Better, but not quite there. Try tightening up the drums a bit, the kick in particular.
>>
>>74285324
Pleb here. Vocals are still too quiet.
>>
>>74285410
how does one tighten drums up? more compression on the individual channels?

>>74285429
thanks
>>
>>74285611
Less bass on the kick drum, lower drums overall in volume.
>>
>>74285623
tight means quiet? lol
>>
>>74285801
It means don't let the fucking kick drum take up 90% of the bass spectrum.
>>
>>74285837

>>
Ive been looking for a nice 7 string guitar for metal and came across this Agile in particular. They seem to have really good specs at such a low price, and i have seen no bad reviews. Is this a good guitar?

Judas priest if you're in E.
Death if you're in D.
Both of these bands have songs that range from super easy to medium/hard.

>>74286166
I've got one of their 8 strings. It's a solid guitar but I've heard the customer service is awful and I've heard they have some huge QC slips at time.
Also mine weights a ton. And not because it is an 8 string, my 6 stringed bass is half as heavy.

>>74286553
Is the S8 about as light as the other S series ? I wish they'd put it back into production, I've never seen any second hand ones here.

what a joke
it feels just like a squier and it costs over $500

it really was a meme
>>
>>74286935
it's a feather heavier than the S6s i've handled, but it's still incredibly light for an 8 string
honestly i wish the neck profile were thicker, it can get kind of awkward sometimes with how wide it is being so thin
but it's still the best 8 string i've had the pleasure of playing
sad that they're out of production

>>
>>74287405
Nothing to display. On two strings I can repeat (E) 4 3 1 (B) 4 faster if I start with a down stroke than with an up stroke. (Alternate picking, not economy.) So even though it's slower, I think it will improve my technique in the long run to outside pick. If anyone else has had success with outside picking - being just as fast - I would like to hear about it.

My bridge rattles and some notes on every string cause a buzz. What could be the issue?
>>
>>74287859
If you think cheaper is better, then go for cheaper. Most of us buy used so the price we pay is more realistic.
>>
>>74287991
I had that problem on my classical guitar, every F note would buzz horribly. and for some reason, putting duct tape inside the guitar made it stop.
>>
>>74287991
it rattles because it's in contact with something, try setting the guitar up from scratch with new strings. You won't regret it.
>>
>>74288075
Yeah it's random notes for each string on mine. I mean they stay the same, but it's random notes nonetheless. I hope I don't sound like an idiot haha
>>
>>74287991
See if it's one of the saddles. Push down on each one to see if the buzz goes away.
>>
>>74288178
It'll buzz from the bridge if I strum all open strings and it'll buzz from the frets if I'm holding certain notes down. The buzz DOES stop when I strum an open string and hold down the saddle of that particular string.
I know Jazzmaster bridges can be moody, but does it sound like I just need a proper set-up? Last time I set it up was a few months back with a Guitar Center employee and I felt like he just wanted it out the door.
>>
>>74287902
ah
i find it easier to outside pick, thats why i focus on inside now. but im imprecise and can play fast as you probably do
>>
>>74288374
sounds like its badly adjusted
>>
>>74288540
Yeah I'll take it to get a proper set-up. Thanks.
>>
>>74288374
Get the adjustment but also get your hex key in there on the saddle screws... Enough so there's no play, not enough to change your action. If one seems really loose switch it to another saddle for maybe a better fit.
>>
>>74288793
My dumbass lost the tool. Otherwise great advice because I got rid of that bridge buzz that way before, but the fret buzz on particular notes remained.

I don't like Fender or the direction they've taken Jackson/Charvel since the buyout, not to say they're poorly made but I just haven't really seen any reason to get anything from either company in a long time.
The last Jackson I owned was the pre-buyout PC1 which changed because the buyout was right in the middle of its production run, so there's two versions of it.
Axe-FX is alright but $2,000 for an amp emulator is a bit absurd to me.
>>
>>74294180
I don't have any experience with the Pre-Fender buyout models, but a lot of people on forums say that Fender has improved that consistency throughout. I really enjoy their new Soloist line up and it was pretty great when I got mine. Really great fretwork and all. I also owned a JS22-7 Dinky and for the price that guitar was absolutely insane. For 6 and 7 strings Jackson is my go to for under $1K. Their 8 strings are still garbage thought due to the 26.5 scale they use for them.

Present day Fender-era Jackson and Charvel guitars are being produced at the Corona works. Fender still manufactures various lines of lower-end imports, as well.

Sanwa buttons are quite amazing because their sensitivity rivals mechanical keys. They are growing in the DJ/controllerism scene as well like the Midi Fighter.

I'm glad that Buckethead popularized them in his Gibson. I think I'm going to get a cheap Indonesian Squire, change the neck to a Fender, and coil-split/add a Sanwa killswitch.

Their shit decision-making skills over the past 9 or so years have really landed them on people's bad side, couple horrible design choice (E-tuners? Zero nut? The fuck do we need these for?), horrible business practice and lack of real progressive innovation or offering something that's both new and actually useful, and then slap an inflated pricetag on it. That's the new Gibson.
Don't get me wrong, I love LPs, Firebirds, hell I have an Explorer from 2008 that I love, but I'll be damned if some of the shit they've done over the past decade isn't more misses than hits.

depends on the guitar, obviously, you can't just throw a question like that in the open. I mean, yeah, you will probably get something better for 600... but then again, maybe not. There's plenty of shitty guitars or guitars that are only a little bit better than cheaper stuff and aren't worth their money, and there's a lot of cheap guitars that are playable (plus you can always upgrade them).

I loosened it in order to give it some relief, and now only the G string has fret buzz, and it's only between the 6th fret and the 12th fret. Raise the saddle again? It's already pretty high compared to the other strings.

How warped is that fucking neck?
>>
the distance between the string and the fret at the middle of the truss rod (i dont know at which fret it is, though) should be slightly lesser than the thickness of a credit card
>>
>>74307365
It looks almost perfectly straight, only the tiniest amount of relief.
>>
>>74307396
If your g string is higher than the others and still buzzes with a slight bow, chances are it's warped. Have someone who knows what they're doing take a look at it.

Turns out it's not just the G string. The lowest 4 strings still have buzz between about the 4th fret and the 12th fret. I think I should try giving the truss rod a little bit more relief, since I only gave it a quarter turn last time. The string height is pretty much exactly where I like it, so I don't really want to raise them again.

Then use lighter strings instead of going full retard.
>>
>>74307541
>adjusting your guitar to your preference
>going full retard

???

But I did just realize that I meant to tighten the truss rod, not loosen it, because if I have fret buzz near the middle of the fret board I want it to be higher up. At least loosening it wouldn't have hurt it in the first place.

You clearly have no fucking clue what you're doing. Yes, you're going full retard on that neck.
>>
>>74307594
>loosening the truss rod by a quarter turn is going full retard on it

I bet you make a lot of luthiers very, very happy anon.
>>
my guitars buzz. like crazy
you can't hear it when its amped up anyway
who gives a fuck
>>
>>74307627
I don't, because I'm not blindly fumbling around with my truss rods.
>>
hey guys why dont you send me stuff so i make review vids of them for you. like that burrito guy
>>
>>74307744
Again,

>loosening the truss rod by a quarter turn
>blindly fumbling around with it

Please, anon, if you have to resort to misrepresenting another person's position in order to feel superior to them, you should be looking inward rather than getting outwardly upset :)
>>
i set up my guitars myself and other people like their feel

>>74307783
You had to fucking ask how to adjust a truss rod and you have no idea how to fix your fret buzz even when you've been told how. You are fumbling blindly.
