Why do people (even people who like their other albums) hate

I think a lot of people liked this album when they were edgy teens/preteens and tried to distance themselves from it as they got older because it's such a sensitive album

Pretty much, I think it's anti-government, and I don't want to be preached to in my music. I don't care about your bullshit metaphor. It's so overbearing when you use something as obvious as a fucking wall to get your message across, especially in such a grand way. It's self important and I don't care.

Full discloser: I've never listened to The Wall. I love Meddle, Dark Side, Animals (well most of it), but I've never listened to the Wall for these reasons.

I think a lot of it is just blowback against its popularity. The concensus among the general public puts The Wall in the top two Floyd albums, when realistically it's in the weaker half of their discography. It's not bad, and there are way worse albums out there (even way worse Pink Floyd albums), but I can't think of a worse album with this level of acclaim.

dont hate it and I like the film a lot but compared to Wish You Were Here, DSotM, Animals and Meddle I dont really rate it
some of the more theatrical vocals and instrumentals turn me off a bit, there is a lot of filler, a little too on the nose with the 'meaning'

Love it but I can see why Pink Floyd fans would dislike it since it feels more like a Roger Waters solo album with some guest members of Pink Floyd rather than a full collaborative effort of the band.
