this is a true story, on my mother's life

I was sleeping with a girl I didn't care about recently, and she stayed over a week or so ago. She asked me to play some music and I played Blue Chicago Moon, and when he repeated "endless" over and over again she burst out laughing and said she found his southern accent hilarious. It genuinely bothered me and I haven't spoken to her since.

This might just me being crazy up late, but things like that make me question if people see the entire world differently from each other. I understand that everyone has their own opinions, but I cannot comprehend how something so meaningful to me can seem stupid to someone else. Do they just not feel empathy to when they feel like they want to kill themselves, or do they not feel those feelings at all and not understand them?

speaking anecdotally for this particular person, she definitely understands the feeling of what it's like to want to kill yourself, but she's selfish insofar as her version of that is the only context imaginable, and she lacks empathy. It's possible she sees "the world" differently, I would argue most people do on some level, but I think mostly she lacks to ability to look outside of herself in a caring, objective way.
