Any opinions appreciated.

My friend bought a 3D grand auditorium Michael Kelly guitar but after a week in a half regretted it. Now he's offering it to me for 540 with case, tuner, and shubb capo. Is it worth or should I just decline? Pic related.
>>
>>74124047
How much did he pay for it and why does he regret it?
>>
>>74124059
He paid 780 on the guitar alone, case was another hundred. The guy plays flamenco but decided he should have a nice acoustic in his collection of spanish guitars. Now he realised how little he likes non spanish jamming.
>>
Has anyone played a Halo guitar? I'm thinking of buying the wide neck model.

>>

$729* actually. I should mention the guitar went on sale on the website
for 499, but still. He's giving me all that extra stuff too.
>>
>>74124047
He bought a piece of shit that sounded like ass and now he's trying to cut his loses by selling it to a retard who doesn't know dick about guitars.

He bought it online because he's a fucking idiot, that's what idiots do, they buy guitars they never laid their hands on or played.
>>
>>74124147
lol this is more like it
>>
>>74124143
Have you heard this thing before? Not trying to sound aggressive, but if I subtract everything else he's giving me with the guitar, the guitar comes around to 380. This guitar has a warm sound to it , and a nice finish.

What kind of guitar is this on the left?
>>
>>74124230
Look, you obviously don't know shit about guitars and you want someone to give you some reassurance you're not making a mistake.

You are though, but that's what noobs do. It's a cheap piece of shit, but what difference does it make? Go buy it if you want, if you're interested you have to start somewhere.

Playing music is a learning process and you're going to spend money on your education one way or another. You don't know a warm sounding guitar from a hole in the ground. Play it for a year or so and then go to a music store and compare it to different guitars.

That'll be day one, remember me if it ever happens.
>>
>>74124331
And how experienced are you? How do I know you're not just some b8er? What mid-tier guitar would you recommend?
>>

>>
I just wrote a chord on Ultimate Guitar and it got approved. Can you guys take a look at it? I want others to make sure it's right.
>>
>>74124380
I started on an Epiphone SG Jr. in 2000, I'm 17 years in. I wouldn't recommend any acoustic in that price range, they're all going to be garbage. Electrics are a slightly different story depending on what you're interested in. What I said before still stands, if you want it then get it. It doesn't matter in that price range and if you're going to start you have to start somewhere.

The answer to your other question? You don't, that's why it isn't a good idea asking questions here.

>>
>>74127925
Pull it out, connect a cable to it, see if there's contact between both the skirt and the pin in the middle. If there is and there's no signal still. There's a broken cable somewhere.

It's usually the pin in the middle. You can carefully bend that more over so that the jack has good connection. Long term you'll want a new one
>>
>>74128224
Just slap on 10-47s and be done with it. You don't need thick strings to sound good.

But i do know i like tubes, but i can only play at low volumes.

Am i retarded for looking for low watt amps to go through a 12" Greenback?
>>
>>74128375
Nah nigger, almost every respectable guitarrist does that, small and nice tube amps that goes through the mixer
>>
>>74128368
Good point. Guitar strings are cheap anyway, might as well try it I guess. Why the elixirs? I thought the coating was kind of a gimmick and dampened the sound a bit? Besides that I'd just get standard daddarions, any other ideas?
>>
>>74128409
>Why the elixirs?
They last longer, less finger noise and the loss in tone is miniscule. I use 80/20 bronze for the added brightness.

Never been an issue. If you use your pick very hard, you'll shred the coating on that end, but it will never cause buzzing. It's a thin coat of the same plastic used in making Gore-tex. It doesn't flake.

Greenbacks are known for their breakup when being pushed, that's why guitarists use them. No, a low wattage amp isn't going to push a greenback into speaker distortion. No it doesn't make any sense to buy a greenback for a low wattage amp.

nttp, but you really don't. Beginners typically think their fretting issues come from weak fingers, when really it's a matter of developing callouses, dexterity and coordination. Economy of motion is a more important point of focus (that is, less effort with more results).

You're probably pressing down too hard right now, but just in an unproductive way. I usually don't put any more pressure on a string than the pressure I'm using right now to type.

That's also mostly a matter of good technique, economy of motion, and a proper setup. And bending typically involves using your whole hand's strength, not just your fingers.

I think you'll have better results if you focus on improving your overall bending technique that convincing yourself it's an issue with your finger strength. That's based on my experience, at least.

ok the whole hand. i want to strenghten all the body parts involved with bending, not just my fingers, by practicing bending on tougher strings. i did it on a nylon acoustic and it already improved. maybe i still can get more resistance without buying different strings by bending on the first frets, cause i still havent mastered bending those. i think i already have good bending technique, dont care if it sounds entitled.

What sort of gear would I need to play an electric guitar through headphones (no other amplification whatsoever). I just want to be able enjoy a variety of tones and effects and whatnot, just only in private without disturbing anyone. Any recommendations? (No budget restrictions)

I have both of those things already. I probably described what I'm talking about poorly so I made a picture to better explain.
Basically I'm just looking for the "magic box" thing. I don't know what it's called, I don't know what I should be looking for in such a product. I just want to have the variable tones and sounds of an electric guitar, just without external amplification - plug in headphones, fiddle with knobs and dials and effects and settings, and not bother anyone while I do it.
>>74133215
>>74132894
I'm going to look into those things, thanks.

Also fwiw, I play primarily classical guitar, so I know the instrument well, just not the electrified/amplified version. I got a bit of money now, so figured this would be a decent way to start exploring it.

Hello /gg/

I want to start learning bass but I have no idea what bass to buy as a starter. I have played around with the bass on an off for a couple months but I don't have access to one at home and the closest one I have is at my dads place in another city. Anyone got some suggestions on what I should buy?

Looking for info on the Bass, Amp and anything else which is important.

>Some say use lemon oil, water, steel woo
Clean with something slightly acidic to loosen grime.
Lemon oil is for rosewood/ebony after it's cleaned. Thin coat, let shit soak in for 5 minutes, then wipe everything down like a motherfucker. There are better oils out there that aren't leftovers from the petroleum industry.
Steel wool is for polishing frets. Autosol is far better with nothing sticking to your pickups and getting everywhere.

Do you know how many gain stages it has? It has one El34, right? Or does it have two? Does it have a switch where you can either step the wattage up or down?

I'm just asking questions, I don't have any specific reasons for asking.
