I think that the soundcloud rap scene that's emerging from the internet into the big leagues is going to die out, but it provides more exposure for those types of characters & eventually someone good is bound to come from it.

It all started with lil yachty seems like, but it's too flashy & trying for me, theres no depth to any of these kids, theyre see through regardless of whether or not theyre blowing all these drugs daily & packing guns, its just boring. That's why i consider young thug a better example, he's at least unique and deserves credit lyrically, a lot of can be drugged out dribble, but he's smarter than his music & really knows what he's doing, playing his own fame game.

I'm a Thugger fan, but he's a really shitty lyricist if I'm being honest. His quirks and production carry his albums, and he still has to use generic gangsta/trap rap euphemisms that kind of hinder his personality IMO. Still a good artist but still not quite at that level I'd like him to be at.

This new Soundcloud wave from the past year has been 100% garbage with the exception of a couple mediocre artists. I seriously don't see any of these kinds of rappers being legitimately good. I really hope we look back at adlib and soundcloud rap as a meme. Mumble rap wasn't bad when it was Future or Thugger, but these guys who rap like Carti or Dex are absolutely horrible
