>hates any and all attempts at showmanship or performance art during concerts
>has transitioned from merely standing stone-still while playing guitar to insisting on sitting down on a stool while he plays
>sends personal emails to streaming services demanding they remove King Crimson clips
>if he sees a camera flash during a concert, will immediately cease playing and walk off the stage
Is it autism?

Smile, whitey!
>>74120041
>Is it autism?
totally
the guy says he doesn't even like guitar as an instrument but practices up to 12 hours a day
>>74120041
yes
>>74120127
All the best guitarists say that, like Omar
>>74120041
>I've never really listened to guitarists, because they've never really interested me. In fact, I think the guitar is a pretty feeble instrument. Virtually nothing interests me about the guitar.
What's his fucking problem?
>>74120143
omar is the chicano fripp
>>74120147
Looks like his toaster got THRAKKATAKKed
Why does Fripp hate fun? King Crimson is great but this guy is such a pompous prick
>>74120251
normalfag
>>74120041
There is literally nothing wrong with any of this. The only time there should be stage theatrics is if the music is played during a theater performance.
>>74121162
second this, the expectation of theatrics kind of ruins music in a lot of ways
fuck showmanship, fuck entertainment
>>74121724
>>74121162
Fucking faggots.
>>74121793
Skinny Puppy's B movie halloween costume bullshit doesn't help the music any.
Theatric shit is fine if you want to electively incorporate it, but to the extent that audiences expect it, and criticize anyone who doesn't play along, that isn't beneficial at all.
Showmanship is a crutch for bad music and a trick to get idiots to think they're enjoying good music that would otherwise be over their heads. If you can't get into the sound itself you're not really there for the music.
>>74120160
this is true
I hate Fripp more everyday but I enjoy his music
>>74120160
Omar is incredibly energetic on stage though
>>74122123
The other side of that is image, photo shoots, etc. That's a large part of how we consume music. What would Grimes be without the image? Would anyone care about her if she didn't make videos and just wore sweatpants and no makeup?
>>74122312
I don't care if you like Grimes or not, don't turn this into a Grimes thread
>>74120041
Fripp is maximum qt. I saw KC like a month ago and it was one of the best concerts I've been to.
>>74122312
I've never heard any of her music, so I can't say. The only imagery I'll consume though are the names of things and the album art, often not even that if it's a download.
>>74122353
>hurr grimes triggers me when mentioned in literally any context
ffs don't be so autistic
>>74122085
I've seen Skinny Puppy 3 times. Amazing live bar none.
Also saw King Crimson in '00. Also great but for the musicianship. You knew you were in the presence of greatness. Belew, Fripp, Mastellotto, Gunn Interesting fact: At the show I saw Fripp kinda' slouched on an amp. Not sure why.
There can be great performances both theatrically and musically. And some cross the line between both.
I think Tortoise have the right approach. They all look like high school math teachers and I still can't name most of them.
>>74122483
>implying any mention of Grimes in a negative light doesn't usually send her fans into a frenzy
I just don't want two Grimes threads mate
