Albums that would be left to wallow in the ghetto that is bandcamp if released today

"My Bloody Valentine were among the most original, complex, important, and influential bands of the '80s. Although they recorded only a few records and only held a few concerts, their legacy is great. As is the case with all revolutions, the one which they started began with a very simple idea: to make noise with guitars, but in doing so generate a sound that is almost transcendent in the Buddhist sense of the word; a sound that can excite as much as appease the spirits; and a sound that can evoke at the same time ecstasy and terror. That simple idea launched the phenomenon of the "shoegazer" genre, the equivalent of Zen for the punk generation. In fact, this revolution inaugurated an idea of rock chamber music that would eventually lead to the revival of ambient music."

MBV birthed these niggas
>>74117343
not saying that mbv is bad, I'm just saying they were so unlike everybody else at the time, and not really part of any scene, and not radio friendly. no label would sign them today.
>>74118335
Many would, lots of labels out there for music thats experimental
>>74118389
none with any money
>>74115915
That Scaruffi dude should lay off the coffee and sugary drinks.
>>74115857
>>74118335
There's noise labels, so I doubt no one would sign a shoegaze band.
>>74115857
Well...most albums we consider amazing and influential, if released today, would be left to wallow on bandcamp because there is so much music being released now. The only way to get your shit noticed is doing lots of live shows.

I need to listen to more bandcamp because those are great albums.

There's some great stuff on bandcamp - there's multitudes more crap, but on very rare occasions, I strike gold.

He should lay off the oxygen.

I bookmark a lot of bandcamp albums that I say I'll get to and then listen to other music I downloaded instead, give me some minutes to peruse through them and give you some good ones.

Just a handful of good ones from skimming it.
Almost any great album would be ignored on bandcamp without promotion.
Promotion is at least as important as the music.

What label do you work for?

Why are you assuming I work for a label?

>each song is literally radio pop tier in composition but with different coat of paint

YouTube, not memeing. Their recommendation algorithm is pretty good they show an artist, then similar artists, current similar artists then brand new current similar artists
>>74118118
Definitely this. There are thousands of two hour dark ambient, sound collage, post rock albums on bandcamp and rightfully so no one gives a shit
>>74124863
Examples?? I would really like to hear something similar to SFTB
>>74124870
There's nothing nearly as good, but there are monolithic albums on bandcamp with little effort put in, so unfortunately, this would blend with them.
>>74115857
it was also widely ignored when it was released. funny is that the music is what an echo chamber of edgy teens sounds like.
>>74115915
"There is little to salvage on this [mbv] collection of mediocre derivative songs. This is the confused work of musicians with no inspiration who desperately try different styles hoping that at least one will work. Maybe they were not so great after all. In the annals of rock music i can't remember a reunion that did not disappoint. I would be glad to write that this is the exception to the rule."

I don't think you guys understand the thread.

Lol you fucking dumbass. Educate yourself on the music industry.

>Albums that would be left to wallow in the ghetto that is bandcamp if released today
No one listened to this album when it came out in 1991 though, so yes.
It was only made into something significant in the canon of rock music by journalists and musicians much, much later.

the coat of paint produced something neither classical or jazz had ever done

netlabels =/= real labels.

Fucking this.
>>74121736
>release album that no one even listens to
>hurr promotion isn't important.
Labels and PR still exist for a reason, but the most important form of promotion is doing shows.
