Is this better than Godspeed You! Black Emperor?
Also post-rock thread
No, but it's still very good.
All in the Full Indomitable Light of Hope Pt II makes me cry. As True as Troilus is also a good song. Very tense.
OP, Departure Songs turns two years old tomorrow. Have you heard it?
Were there any post rock albums that tried to do the same thing as this? With how easy sampling is nowadays, i'm surprised how little this style has been attempted to be replicated. At least Slint had A Minor Forest, June of 44, and Rodan, what does this have?

you can make an argument for some of Cornelius' work but the vibes are totally different

Nope but I will
Anyone know any albums similar to Swans' last 3 records? I find its hard to find post rock like it

As True as Troilus is one of the best post-rock tracks I've ever heard, I had completely forgotten that this album existed until I saw this thread and it reminded me of that song.

Check out Year of No Light's "Tocsin"
More on the shoegaze side but they have a similar knack for huge sounds and punishing repetitive chords.

It's not really post rock, structurally speaking, but Oxbow scratches that itch if I want Swans with tighter songs.
