For me its the other way around. For the past 6-7 years, most of my music has been sad in way and I don't think its an accident that I've become depressed over this time. Right now I'm trying to put my life back together but its a bit difficult when the thing I go to for comfort is now giving me the opposite feeling of what I'm trying to achieve. I need to find more happy music

It's the other way around, bub. The music is depressive because you're depressed, your aren't depressed because the music is depressive.
For this reason, one(a blissfully unaware individual) can listen to... say... Bark Psychosis and feel nothing, but instead hear it only as a variant of a form of rock music they're unfamiliar with. Chances are, the music you deem depressive would otherwise be neutral to those who are clinically happy.
