What does /mu/ think about this? As a huge fan of Boris, I'm personally a bit disappointed. I think it's worse than Noise, which wasn't really a high water mark of theirs to begin with.
Las three songs are pretty good when they dip into the post rock, I like the mellotron on Dystopia (I think?). But the rest just sounds super samey to me, like nestling the line between drone metal and just straight up doom. And when they try something a little different, like on the slightly faster and stoner-y Absolutego, it just doesn't deliver for me.
Any thoughts?

I love drone and I love drone metal but for whatever reason this isn't hitting the sweet spot for me. I like "The Power" the most out of all the drone metal tracks and it just doesn't sound any different to something like "Orthodox Caveman" by Sunn O))). Would you say it's your favorite Boris album then?

I guess I just enjoyed the greater number of melodic numbers on Noise. The highlights on this album are the melodic parts, like the vocal harmonies on Memento Mori.
