I don't care for their image, but Black Parade is a legitimately good album, and there's good things about the ones before and after. The sad thing is that they still had room to improve I think, and when they broke up they could have been the best rock band in the world.

Of their contemporaries, they were the only ones whose approach was rooted in Bowie/Stones, which automatically makes them better. Panic at the Disco ruined themselves by fracturing, and Fall Out Boy hit their ceiling and bottomed out.
