Hello all,
I've never been to /mu/ before, but I have a question I'd like to ask. I signed up for voice lessons on Monday -- I've never had voice lessons before. What should I do to prepare?
My instructor recommended that I familiarize myself with either Paisiello's "Nel cor piu non mi sento" or Schubert's "Litanei" depending on my vocal range (as he's never heard me before). I thought of printing out the sheet music and annotating any untranslated lines with English, as well as learning the pieces as well as possible, but I don't know what else I should do.
I had 10+ years of piano lessons when I was younger, but I didn't take them seriously and consequently never accomplished much. I'd like that to be different this time (I'm older and more mature, and no longer depressed, which should help). My interest in singing comes primarily from Schubert's Lieder. I'm particularly awestruck by (cliche reasons I know) Schreier's Winterreise and Fischer-Dieskau's Der Erlkonig.
i don't have an answer but thanks for the cat
good luck with your voice lessons, anon

You're very welcome! I'm excited, but apprehensive.
