Reddit is for finding links only, usually from a google search, but NOT for browsing. I can't speak for niche music subreddits, but if you browse /mu/, you have absolutely no excuse for browsing r/music. They have measurably dogshit taste in comparison and if you browse both you probably use r/music as a safe haven to harbor your shit taste.

This is the only correct answer. Some specific subreddits can be useful for finding out information, such as tour dates, upcoming albums, etc., but most of it is pretty dogshit.

Reddit is based on an upvote system where any unpopular opinions are hidden and buried, so it's inherently bad wether it's music-related or not.
Also there's a really annoying trend recently of moderators locking every thread that contains any heated discourse or disagreement due to 'flaming'. It's just an echo chamber for safe and dull talk.
