Has anyone else noticed this recent trend of nostalgia towards mid-00's emo.

Am I that old, that every bar is having Emo night of songs I listened to in early high school
>>
>>73993632
I fucking hated scene girls
>>
where the fuck do they do this?
>>
>>73993653
I'm in BK my friends in Dallas and Chicago say they have Emo nites too
>>
>>73993632
they're old enough to drink now. in ten years every bar will be playing Uptown Funk on loop.
>>
Wow yeah I'm a bouncer and we started doing this every Thursday night for a few months at my place too. It attracts such a faggy crowd, nearly identical to the ones on Game of Thrones night.
>>
>>73993653
I know some places in Nashville do it too.
>>
>>73993666
Every bar band in Fargo has some version of it in their repertoire, anon. It's already getting played on loop.
>>73993632
A few of the bands have pop punk covers as well. This is very much a thing.
>>
>>73993632
If ya'll niggas are gonna start hating on Tell All Your Friends then imma have a fit.
>>
>>73994281
You only listen to emo and pop punk because it takes you back to the only time where people gave a fuck about you.

You better believe I fucking bought it.

I like emo, but I was more of a deathcore kid.

Breakdowns, they're cheesey and they just do something for me. I guess it's because I had a peak in highschool screaming in a metalcore band that was fairly popular at my school.

I'll be like a dad stuck on glam but for -core bands.
>>
>>73994571
I prefer the one with Cali Buds on it I forget the title.

What your favorite BMTH joint. Mine is There is a Hell
>>
I would hope if this is true it's people that didn't actually live through it

Anyone that did should probably be nostalgic for their youth and probably be laughing at the fashion/music by now

The only reason anyone my age would listen to it now is nostalgia and memories

Anyone younger is probably being weird about it kind of like with the grunge resurgence I've seen
>>
>>73994322
>>73994413
>Projecting this hard
Get well soon, anon.
>>
>>73994878
Oh yea it's all nostalgia if you look at it 21-25 these people were like 11-15 when this music was in it's peak so yeah it makes sense
>>
>>73994727
Cali Buds was on Identity On Fire, and as far as BMTH, I'm one of those Count Your Blessings purists lol
>>
>>73994896
You use the music of your adolescence as escapism because you're too much of a coward to face reality.
>>
>>73994911
Or because it's familiar and comfortable. You need to work on your arm chair psychology. You seem angry.
>>
I used to go emo bashing with my homies at the skatepark and come up with new decks every night.
>>
Yeah in the UK there are plenty of 2000s emo and nu-metal nights around where I live. There's an entire club that's dedicated to nights like that too.

Never been to one but I imagine they're a weird vibe. How can you dance?
>>
>>73994909
>Count Your Blessings
There was one song from that I downloaded so I don't know it I know about SS though but my favorite will aways be There is a Hell

>>
>>73995039
90's Emo is good but it's not mid-00's emo
>>
>>73993640
They are very nice to look at, nobody cares about their vapid personalities
>>
>>73994322
For me, I think it's rather that it reminds me of the only time in my life where there was hope for a better future, you know, before I fucked it all up
>>
>>73995484
That mix of quirky, "randomness" and attention-seeking behavior was a nightmare to be around, I dated a scene girl.
>>
>>73995498
Why do you think there's no hope for you now?
>>
>>73994911
What is reality?
>>
>>73995514
I wrote up an overly long and honest answer but that didn't help

But you know, it's the usual stuff, you lose everything in life and then wonder what's the point in restarting...all those meme images always talk about how if you want to kill yourself, you should just go do whatever you want instead but it assumes you want to do anything, my depression took away all my dreams and aspirations a long time ago

I used my job to keep me going for my whole adult life in place of dreams or aspirations and when that was taken from me, I didn't have any reasons left to get up in the morning and I just end up with less reasons as each month passes, the amount of work I'd have to put in just to became a functioning human being now isn't even worth it and I just wait to die instead
>>
>>73993632
>has anyone else noticed people organize events at bars and clubs revolving around music that they grew up with and are nostalgic for.

>>
where are all those pop punk+pizza kids obsessed with bands like The Wonder Years, Transit and Joyce Manor around 2009-2010 these days? They were an improvement over scene kids.
>>
>>73993632
Do you mean Scenecore, or like, actual emo.

Metalcore and Pop Punk aren't emo, and you'd think a hipster music board would know that.
>>
>>73996207
people do know that, its just pedantic losers like you are the only ones to point it out. everyone else doesn't care because everyone knows what the thread pertains to.
>>
>>73996235
It aint pedantry when it's an incredibly common misconception and there are words for what people erroneously call emo.
>>
>>73996519
Shut up it was called emo at the time and it's what most people think of when people say the word anyways not the niche 90's music genre
>>
I identified really hard with the 00's emo, pop-punk and nu-metal stuff from 13 even up to as late as 19 years old. Dated a goth girl as well from an art school. I unironically dreamed about wanting to start an emo band and practiced some acoustic guitar, but dropped it since I've always been more of a graphic design/arts not music person.

Now when I look back into this kind of music, it has heavy nostalgia to it, even the distorted-font-checkerboard-pattern aesthetics, but it doesn't inspire or offer me anything besides that anymore, even with the recent 2010's emo stuff.

I know many emos graduated to hipster shit, which I tried countless times too, but it never really stuck with me, seemed too self-celebratory. Tried to get into EDM heavily, but that didn't stuck either. These days I don't really listen to anything, but I have found that besides Grimes, some of the stuff like link below seems pretty cool (guess you can call it surf rock/garage rock???). This Lo-Fi trend that has started recently seems to be the only thing that resonates me in any real sense.

I usually listen to shitty sound cloud rappers and ramonescore
>>
>>73995707
same.
i've got a date i plan to kill myself. paid my student loans, caught up with people, made arrangements. i'm ready to be over.
>>
>>73996566
Is ramonescore different from pop-punk? It sounds pretty similar.
>>
>>73996631
It's just pop punk that tries to sound like the ramones like how most horror punk bands try to sound like the misfits

I feel like this too very often, and I wallowed in self-pity a lot more, then 2 years ago I got a very severe panic attack in a train one day. I was frothing from the mouth, hyperventilated hard, my heart pounded really bad, and a cramp struck my right hand so I couldn't move it. At the time I though that this is a heart attack and I am going to fucking die now. Some man called a train attendant and they gave me some water and called an ambulance. By the time they picked me up, they ran some scans and funny enough, I recovered 100%. Then week later, I got another very bad panic attack, and after that, I spent few months in bed, had several out-of-body experiences and it felt a mix of complete terror and bad acid trip.

Long story short, now, 2 years later, I can say that after this experience, I don't fear death anymore (I was really fucking afraid of death before the panic attack), but I also don't feel like wallowing in pity either. What I discovered is that I have made peace with the fact that I am mortal, and will die one day, so might as well make my time alive to mean something. Currently, I am learning some new skills, advancing in my career and try to chase some dreams that I have.

Couldn't they at least play something bearable from that era? Like the post punk revival shit or even just "hey yeah" by Outkast on loop.
