Whats up with all these new indie rock bands tryna sound like Mac Demarco? Its not even that they're taking influence...they just sound like knock off Jizz Jazz...
That's because indie's in even a worse spot than rock and metal in terms of how irrelevant it became after 2010. The only guy who's getting any love at all is Mac Demarco, and even then his sound isn't original at all.

Sounds about right. Indie and rap are in terrible spots.
Last year house music was salivating over lofi house, i was too, but thankfully that has died down some.
Smh, why can't i find any good indie rock that isn't trying its hardest to be "that weird and lonely guy who plays nice jangly riffs and progressions"?
I've seen a few that are in their own lane, like Jerry Paper, but like hiphop, i have to sift through albums worth of knock off stuff.

I don't know about that, a lot of indie groups have come back and released new shit as of late. Meanwhile metal becomes increasingly populated by literal whos that release one shit album and then disappear into the ether, and the big historic bands just rest on their laurels while aging boomers and gen xs go to their concerts.

I don't know your taste exactly, but I've been listening to spooky black recently and he's pretty good if you're into slow stuff. The Japanese House has a few good songs too but I'm not crazy about them
