I want to get into electronic music. I've got Ishkur's guide open in one tab but I'm not sure where to start. Ideally I'd like to start as far back as possible, and get a good grasp of the context and history of the different genres before moving forward

Just go through his genres, figure out which one of those you like the most, and start with that. Also the dude's making a new one that might come out at any moment some time soon.
