Can someone tell me the appeal of the Digitakt over the Octatrack, other than that it's simpler? You can can a second hand Octatrack for the same price also.

I'm not a big fan of the guy, but Cuckoo did a pretty expansive video addressing your exact question. Personally I don't find the Digitakt appealing at all, it doesn't do anything I can't do with my Push 2 except the Elektron trig shit. The Octatrack is overly complex and daunting, some people like that some people hate it, I believe this just takes away a lot of that complexity.

Thanks, i'll check his video out. They're always far too long though

The OT isn't really overly complex imo. It can do a lot that you wouldn't expect(4 track mixer/8 track looper) so it takes time to learn the machines. Working with just samples on the OT is very easy.

I haven't used it, but one of the common criticisms I see from people that do is that it's so complex that it can discourage them from creating anything, but I hear people say the same thing about FM synthesis. It seems like a large part of the hardware synth user base isn't a fan of something unless it has a knob/function layout
also tfw getting my first Elektron box today :3 My monomachine should be delivered in the next couple hours.

Thanks! I actually hate the sound of chiptune tracks and that's what a ton of the demos on youtube seem to be going for, but I hear nothing but great things about it and it looks capable of so much more.
