the beatles became famous doing radio friendly pop, they weren't more than sellouts, when all the beatlemania was spread all over the world, their integrants matured, they wanted to start to act like real musicians, so it was when the experimentation become a part of their sound, because the band was already famous their experimental approach became a lot more influential than the one of bands that start experimentating from the born of their career.

the thinking of the normie people are a crucial at this:
the beatles
>the beatles made something new? well, it sounds kinda weird haha, but you know, they are the beatles, it means it msut be good

>unknown experimental band
who the hell are they? it's just nuts group that are trying to convince us that they are"making" "music" there isn't a poor way to call the attention.

even their experimental stuff had strong pop roots

Do you know what's coming now? Get ready for dozens of replies over romanticizing their music and equating them to classical composers.

How did the Beatles 'sellout' if they had nothing to betray? Their first albums were extremely successful from the get go and made accessible music.

Taking someone else's ideas and making them popular isn't necessarily bad in the Beatles' case, because they weren't trying to be radical with them. In that case 'real' experimental bands in the 60s cant even compare to the Beatles. The Beatles were the intermediaries between experimentation and the pop world. The radical and sudden revolution of music in the 60s didn't sell, didn't get noticed until decades later when it doesn't matter. The Beatles changed what was going on in their time frame.

And do you know what happened after that? Record company executives realized that music was another viable source of investment. Hello manufactured boy bands, 14 year old girls, middle aged stay at home moms and unfathomable profits. And by the way, AMM were contemporaries of the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Apparently they were fans of theirs.

The unknown experimental band is unknown because they are bad.

Bands that made themselves famous from the get go and still had plenty of experimentation like The Doors and TVU were still quite poppish in their sound.

But hey the Beatles are popular, we can't have that! I say fuck 'em, lemme listen to my favorite underground post-rock artist on SoundCloud.

don't act like the beatles didn't have a heavy pop element even in their experimental phase. i am not knocking them for it, but everything they've done has been accessible.

Are you a teen btw?

Because only teens want music with actual substance.

Are you saying that before the Beatles music was never manufactured? Labels like Motown and Atlantic were always trying to get their poster boys to create music to sell.
Also the point about AMM doesn't really matter. AMM wasn't creating music in the same way the Beatles did. Their priorities were different but that doesn't make the Beatles' music less of a work of art.

Of course not.

You can argue that there's good and bad art, but no self aware or self respecting artist would make a song like this. And that's just one example.

Funnily enough Lennon still liked that song after The Beatles had ended.

You can't really hate something that made you popular, especially if you were a pop star to begin with.
