wow i think this guy is pretty good.
what do u think of good ol jimmy ororuke?
jimbo is my boy
it's not just his own work - there so much good stuff just from diving into what he has helped produce and curate, and his interviews are always kinda funny and kinda sad
Bad Timing is the best American Primitive album not made by Fahey

HAHAHAHAHAHHAA
give me a break

i admittedly haven't listened to too much of his solo work, but simple songs is a great album ruined by shit production

What do you not enjoy about the production

idk it just sounds really "loud" and trebly and the mixing seems really off too. the drums are all in the left channel like an old beatles album

its fair to not like the production, but its deffo purposefully done - i had same feeling at first as well, thought vox was too back in the mix and as a result felt muddy (and coming into it, one of my fav parts of a jim vocal piece was the lyrics) - but when I approach it from the perspective of trying to unearth the vocals from the melange of the instruments (which in aprt allows one to appreciate the arangements) it becomes a lot more enjoyable (personally) - still like most of his other stuff tho personally
Been digging this a bunch as of late:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LGJZM4XRcA
also, something he re-put out part of a label he was curating while back (dunno status of label):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gbar81_yjY8
Eureka a best
