what are the main things that you should NOT do with audio interface (things that can damage equipment i.e. unplugging microphone while 48V button is on)

Is it ok to plug in/unplug instruments and microphones while the interface is on, but the 48V button is off?

Is it ok to have the 48V button on with a cable plugged into the interface that is not hooked up to an instrument or microphone?
>>
48V means 48 volts?

voltage blows things up when you plug into them

they need to be rated at 48 volts in total sum of your chain
>>
basically if you plug too many things in, the chain may not work(not enough volts). the more you add to a chain, the more voltage is needed. no I believe if you have something that only uses 12V and you plug it in with the 48V button it will damage it
