Can we talk about djent for a bit? About a year ago I remember it (specifically Meshuggah) being jerked off to hell and back but nobody seems to talk about it now
Out of all the djent bands I've listened to, TesseracT is the only one I genuinely enjoy. They're the only one that transcends all the mathiness and chugging and actually has interesting songwriting and a sense of emotion in their music.

That being said, I think The Contortionist has a lot of potential

Also, Meshuggah's Nothing is an undisputed classic.

TesseracT is really great. Altered state is a classic imo. I tend to enjoy progressive metal with djent elements more as well as punk/math rock with djent elements.

is meshuggah even djent?
I could have sworn djent was everything that came after them

They pioneered the sound and established the poly-rhythmic grooves and spacey ambience that the style is associated with.

That's kind of how I feel about Periphery. They've got some really slapping riffs, beautiful melodies and really strong pop songwriting. While TesseracT is really good Meshuggah and Periphery are really the only djent I go back to regularly.
