I remember when I was in high school, still not into music, I had a crush on this girl who liked 90s alternative shit (which I was in love with at the time), and she suggested me Modest Mouse, I asked her what songs, and she said Float On. I asked her a few years later (after I'd gotten fully into Modest Mouse) and she said that was the only MM song she knew. I think I know why the stigma exists.
