Is it bad to like using a pick on bass? I'm proficient in other styles of playing but I'm just particularly drawn to use a pick. I feel if I use a pick too much I might get worse in my other styles of playing. I need some input.

just practice the other styles occasionally. there's nothing wrong with using a pick as long as that style fits the music
who started the "le pick is bad on bass" trend, there's literally nothing wrong with it

Pick probably gets best sound for rock i reckon. Especially aggressive bass. Maybe distorted. But depends on styles u like to play

Fuck off paul

as someone who does use a pick on bass the only downside is that sometimes you get that annoying scratching noise, don't use soft picks.

it doesn't always sound good. too much attack and it cuts out some of the low end. this is fine, and even preferable, in certain styles that need that attack, but it wouldn't be good in styles such as reggae that need the deep low end.

Yeah, but I'm not playing bass cause I was forced to. Paul doesn't count.
It depends on the style you're playing. Nothing wrong with pick.
