Noise fits under this, since a lot of it is either analog or uses a DAW, which still counts as an instrument as far as I know.

People seem to dismiss noise music under the impression that it is formless and unstructured. Most of Merzbow's albums will have dynamic and predictable forms, such as manipulation of filters and envelopes and introductions of different tape loops. The music may lack conventional melodies, however there are often rhythms to latch onto, or at least a shifting texture to latch onto.
Harsh noise wall is perhaps pushing the notion of music to the limit, albums like Romance by Hijokaiden being pretty much 70 mins of undynamic relentless chaos, but that can be seen as an expression of emotion still.

Noise lacks harmony, melody or often - rhythm. An those were the components that people defined music by in the classical era. Today It all comes down to what is your definition of music and if all sounds are musical to you. Musique concrete which also was built on the assumption of breaking those rules reaches as far as 1920s so the topic is rather old.

If you listen to a power generator or some of the stuff at a power plant or a broken tv with no cable, you'll hear similar textures to harsh noise or power electronics. Not only that, but there isn't much work put into making most forms of harsh noise/power electronics where anyone can make it once they know how to. That being said what does prop up the genre isn't garbage like Whitehouse or Merzbow but stuff like Hanatarash or Keiji Haino who are often using innovative ways to manipulate/generate noise.

Noise is shit.
