There's a view that silence is music. Have you heard this?

Silence isn't music! Silence is silence! Space between notes is just space. If saying that silence or the space between notes is music, then one must assume that the space between sentences is language.

Let's not stop there! Not all sound is music. If people regard the sound of the wind in the trees, bird calls, or the ripple of a bubbling brook to be music, then the sound of a car accident, the sound of punches thrown by an abusive husband landing on his wife, or the sobs of a lost child at the mall looking for his mom must recieve the same regard. If all sound is music music, then the sound an animal makes at the slaughterhouse has to be viewed the same way.

If people consider silence to be a form of music, then one needs to appreciate the continuous silent music that a deaf person experiences, probably for life.

Or, maybe we can stop these ideas about what constitutes music and let's get real about it actually is. We musicians (bass players in particular) have some pretty messed up conclusions about things. We call various sounds "music" while we make effort avoid learning exactly those things that actually help to make us musical. Think on this and aim yourselves toward learning music as it should taught to you.
