Thoughts on him?
I'm not really that into folk music, but I'm really digging his discography
I live in Salem, Oregon and I hear about him all the time from people around here. Bought some LPs not too long ago off of a lady that used to own a record store with her husband. Said they were good friends with him during his last years here. Her stories blew me away. The guy is a legend.

If you dig his material, check out Robbie Basho, Jack Rose and Sir Richard Bishop.
John Fahey is the fuckin shit. He's got a huge discography and it's all consistently good.
Check out John Fahey Visits Washington D.C. its real good.

His story is one of the best things about him, I got introduced to him because I heard some story on the radio (NPR I think?) and it just blew me away
