Does hating pop music make me a stangry old, meme, or unintentional self parody?

Do you mean you hate all popular music? Or you hate "pop-music"?
idk i always disliked most pop music
>>73827368
Like most of what's played on hit radio and any "pop" playlist on Spotify

that shit is boring and repetitive. just because its a meme to hate "pop" music doesnt mean youre forced to like it
If you don't like pop music, it's perfectly ok. Now, if you explain to people that classical music or whatever you listen to is better music because [instert asinine reasons here], you're dumb and pretentious.

Not being able to find any popular music that you like just screams of edgelord to me
don't listen to >>73827461
you just have different taste to the majority of people, nothing edgy about that
>>73827173
i hate popular music (as in the art, folk, pop trichotomy). its inherently commercial

What if I feel it takes the spotlight away from talented people? What if I feel it's the reason good bands brake up or starve? What if I feel a fair amount of the success is achieved from not instantly turning it off or changing the station because a lot of people probably wouldn't even realize a song was playing?

But 'the majority' of people don't have one taste in music so there is at least some variety amongst the charts.
I mean if you didn't enjoy the new Lorde album your ears need help.

There's a handful of songs I mind less than others. Ones I can say are catchy, more skillful written, wouldn't kill me on a car ride or in a store or restaurant or whatever but I still wouldn't call "good".
I don't even listen to popular music unless I want something more visceral so occasionally some kinda punk/metal/hip hop/dance stuff.
In all non-visceral contexts,
Art music
Jazz
(Real) electronic music
Are all superior anyway.
