How come TR-808 drum machines have so much significance in music culture?
It's almost like a catch phrase to say "808" in lyrics.

Use google. There's documentaries about it.
>>73825942
I'd rather discuss it here for fun.
>>73825933
TR-606s are better.
The 808 has a lot of undesirable sounds.
It's because people think they are apart of some elite sub culture simply by saying 808. But the reality is they probably have never actually touched an 808 and wouldn't know the difference between an 808 vs saturated sine wave.
most people on /mu/ are equally as retarded about 808. Watch the documentary.

Oh boy.
Anyways, the 606 and 909 sound better

I did watch the documentary.
Anyway how is it a secret club when everybody knows it?
It's because of how prevalent it is in popculture and music in general, the majority of pop songs in recent years either have an 808 kick drum or something replicating it.

707 is pretty boss sounding, that kick and rimshot
but the best TR sound has got to be the 808 cow bell
cuz it is Japanese product
Tempest = GOAT drum machine

What's the name of the documentary?
>>73826790
'808'
>>73825933
Cause holy fuck is the 808 über-famous and used in like fucking every third track in the industry

Thanks mate
I'm really fucking sick of all the focus there is on the 808's clap samples right now. It's like trap decided to entirely use all of the bad Roland drum machine sounds.
