Internet subculutres have more presence IRL now. A lot of times you can tell when someone is really into online stuff (like leldit, etc) more than you could a few years ago because it's so popular now. RTJ fans are reddit in the flesh, and therefore I speak about them how "we" speak online. It was actually worse at Death Grips, but they were clearly 4channers VS redditors. different levels of autism but i preferred the DG fans.

I don't talk about "normies" the same I would talk about some real life meme posters, but I would use the word cuck because its meaning is very relevant and has already spread into mainstream acceptance (like a lot of online trends).

Also, I don't like RTJ because

Good god

It's a very safe album. The production just waters down sounds innovated by Death Grips and Dälek but doesn't add anything to them. Except for Oh My Darling Don't Cry, the production is pretty stagnant and flat throughout the album. Lyrically, some of the worst lines of Killer Mike and El-P's careers are on this album. "You can all run naked backwards through a field of dicks"? Really? They try to e serious but then drop to immature lyrics that are neither funny nor sensical. The features are pretty awful too, especially Gangsta Boo. Technically, their flows aren't even that complex or interesting. They're either basic flows that match with the beat or try-hard fast flows that don't mesh with the rest of the song. I would legitimately rather listen to a song like Rap God than listen to one of these guys try to rap fast.

It's definitely not the worst hip hop has to offer, but it's painfully average and is overrated as fuck.

Honestly it's a good album (in a technical sense) but it's also a bit bland. I think EL is great on his own but when teamed with Mike it's a situation where the whole is much lesser than the sum of its parts. The concepts which he explores on solo tracks like T.O.J, Stepfather Factory, The Overly Dramatic Truth etc are deeper and more ambitious than anything I've heard him rap about with RTJ. When he's with Mike he often reverts to lyrics which are political, crudely sexual, or just overly bombastic, which to me isn't really that compelling. It's almost like he tones himself down to the point where he has nothing to talk about just so he can connect with Mike's style of combining his social views with upbeat, Atlanta style rap about fucking and fighting. The same can be said of the produck too, in the sense that the RTJ production is good but it's nowhere near as bold as some of the work I heard on his three solo albums.
