The vast majority of metal artists I listen to? Metal has to an extent focused on how one uses the formula rather than trying to constantly change it. It's less straightforward structure and focus on riffs complements that.

Same counts for practically all common practice period composers as well since they worked from a very similar set of theoretical rules.
