It's not. Lots of that indie shit is neither alternative nor independent.

I feel many music critics (even musicians) don't get why people were interested in alternative music in the first place. Today I made the mistake of watching the melon's AOTY so far and it was so disgusting it ruined my day.

Indie is a term scumbag reviewers use to describe music that sounds like some kind of 90's independant rock, the kind you could put in the background of a bottled water commercial without offending anyone.

The real meaning of indie should be: signed on an independant label. And people should expect from the music released of these labels to be daring, personal and maybe played by your cousin or something.
