He used to play for Porcupine Tree.

In Absentia, Fear of a Blank Planet, and The Incident are great albums that you should listen to.

Steven Wilson was the frontman of Porcupine Tree. He went solo and released some stunning albums. One is called The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories), and the other is Hand. Cannot. Erase.

Raven is escpecially king crimson-esque.

I think Lark's Tongues in Aspic is KC's best, but you might want to listen to the live version, which is much more wild and heavy (see The Great Deciever). I also like Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair, but they're a much differeny kind of prog

For modern prog that is not metal I guess you can check Dear Hunter, Mew, Dungen, Black Mountain, Knifeworld, Archive, Bent Knee, Omar Rodriguez Lopez solo stuff (and Mars Volta if you havent) and Melody's Echo Chamber newest song is very proggy too.

Going to recommend my absolute favourite band, Pendragon. I've never once seen them mentioned on /mu/, which makes me sad.

They started out with a sound very similar to Pink Floyd, helped pioneer the neo-prog rock sub genre in the 90s, and currently have a borderline metal sound. This is my favoruite album, from 2001.
