You're trying really hard. You don't fool anyone if you post some of her few ugly pictures out of thousands of good pictures. Let's face it, anyone - even you - would look ugly with that haircut. I recommend you to move this discussion to /hr/ where it belongs. This is a music board, not a fashion board.

Let's move to the more important things: why do you refuse to listen to her music despite your strong interest in her weird appearance? I hope you're not a waifufag.

Not that anon, but not everything is 80's synth revival bullshit just because it has synths. Synths are instruments like any others. Why her music is good besides production?

First of all, the solid as granite songwriting. She writes great songs. That seems a lost art in this decade, when so many songs are nothing without production. Her songs sound so good they could stand alone even without her voice. Most music is vocally driven with bland instrumentals. One the other hand, she puts a big focus on instrumentals. In a way, she's more in line with the classical composers. It just happened that she operated in pop music format.

Then her voice. 4 and 1/2 octaves range and coloratura soprano it's not something you'll find on every corner. In pop music, this is as rare as it gets. Not only that, but her voice is used in a very creative way (filtered, distorted, looped, etc).

Then the diversity. A snippet of industrial here, snippet of dreampop here, a trace of R&B here and chunk of IDM there. It's a mess that really works. That's why she's above most artists: she doesn't limit herself to a particular genre; she does whatever she likes because her creative vision is unlimited.

Then the emotion. Her music has genuine emotional impact. This is what truly separates the dime a dozen artists from the greats. Her music is really memorable.
>>
>>73739249
Most people like the demo more than the album version. I had to pick one because time is limited. The mixtape is already big.
>>
after listening to the four albums a bunch i'm pretty sure i like visions/art angels much more than halfaxa/geidi primes. is there anything in her earlier (pre-geidi primes) work that resembles the poppier half of her music?
>>
>>73739124
she's the perfect gf for many people on /mu/, that's why
>>
>>73739447
I wasn't saying all synths=80's synth revival, Stereolab is one of my favorite bands btw

>Solid as granite songwriting
I mean, I've not heard all of her songs but the ones I have I can't remember. As for her being "more in line with classical composers" I would disagree, she just sounds like a pop singer to me, bjork would be a better comparison

>Her voice
I could just listen to Bjork or opera if I wanted crazy range, Grimes always sounds like a squawking bird to me

>the diversity
people could argue that little paragraph as her music being "cluttered and unfocused" instead of "diverse"

>Emotion
subjective, but again, I haven't heard all her songs so I've probably missed a ballad?

I've given her opportunity after opportunity. Appreciate your detailed response btw, does it take watching a live show or listening to her deep cuts?
>>
>>73739513
Weak reasoning. Let's be real, nobody here (literally nobody) has even the slightest chance to be with her. What it remains? Oh, her music...

>>73739567
>I mean, I've not heard all of her songs but the ones I have I can't remember.
Maybe you didn't listen enough to her music or you did something else while listening to it. I could remember almost all her songs. Many other anons could do that too. Her songs have really good hooks.

>As for her being "more in line with classical composers" I would disagree, she just sounds like a pop singer to me, bjork would be a better comparison
You're judging her based on her known poppy songs. But try her Experimental Mixtape here >>73737033 and hopefully you'll see the weird side of her music. She could do some crazy things with her voice.

>I could just listen to Bjork or opera if I wanted crazy range, Grimes always sounds like a squawking bird to me
Why do you insist comparing her to Bjork? I could say that Bjork sounds like a squawking bird to me. Let's face it: Bjork sometimes sings like nails on a chalkboard with those screechy sounds of her. Grimes is far more melodic.

>people could argue that little paragraph as her music being "cluttered and unfocused" instead of "diverse"
Few people. She's acclaimed for her diversity. Despite her diversity, her music is remarcably focused. She sounds like Grimes and you can't confuse her with anyone else.

>subjective, but again, I haven't heard all her songs so I've probably missed a ballad?
Subjective indeed. She has some ballads. For instance, try "Skin", "Life in the Vivid Dream", "Shadout Mapes" and "Heartbeats".

>I've given her opportunity after opportunity.
Try those 2 mixtapes too. They're much more representative of her body of work.

>Appreciate your detailed response btw, does it take watching a live show or listening to her deep cuts?
You're welcome. But I don't understand your question. Do you want recs about her live shows and deep cuts?

A rapidly oscillating form of artistic creation spiraling between heartbeat drum kicks to gleaming beams of melodies and synths. Grimes has liberated herself from the inertia and intellectual dishonesty of previous modernist thought and has delved into the antonymous. That which is moving back and forth between pulsating polarities of music, art and performance.

Grimes is CUTE! CUTE!! No other person can come close to being CUTER than her. There is no way you can convince me she is not CUTE. This person could not possibly be anymore CUTE! She's CUTE, and nobody can convince me otherwise. If anyone approached me on the topic of her not possibly being CUTE, then I immediately shut them down with overwhelming evidence that Grimes is CUTEST! This person is CUTE, it is indisputable. Why anyone would try to argue that this person is not CUTE is beyond me. If you held two pictures of Grimes side by side, you'd see CUTERER! I can safely look at this person every day and say "Yup, she's CUTE". I can practically see Grimes every time I look at CUTE in the dictionary. I go outside and people stop me to comment how CUTE she looks and acts. I chuckle softly as I'm assured everyday this person is CUTEST in every way. I can smile each time I get out of bed every morning knowing that I've found CUTE in this person and I know my place in this world. It's really quite funny how CUTE Grimes is, it's almost like she's the definition of CUTE. When I first saw Grimes, I had an existential crisis. What if this person was the real CUTE and nobody else could ever come close? What if Grimes actually became aware of how CUTE she is? Did Grimes have the ability to become CUTE personified?
