>>

i have those and used them for about a year
they're pretty good and comfy
the left ear got kinda fucked up after a while though
>>
>>73638690
Just got those Monoprice 1060s, dear god these is so much better than the Senn 598s, 600s, and 650s. Literally night and day, well worth the upgrade especially in the sound stage department.

>>
>>73639234
how is sound stage a meme? lol
>>
>>73639234
all it is is a buzzword for something that already exists, separation
how well something is separated has nothing to do with the headphones, it's about the mixing of what you're listening to
>>
>>73638690
Audiotechnica M50. The only choice
>>
>>73640074
Except that's wrong because its varies radically even on the same file across multiple head phones you potato.

!!!!!
You know the drill before I blow your brains out.
>>

Personally have M50X's

Though if you want to be thorough id recommend following the /g/ sticky to their wiki and looking through their headphone recommendations at different price points.
>>
>>73638690
>>73638690
I also have the M50X's, not gonna lie I didn't like them at first, it almost feels like they need an amp. Anyways they have grown on me, and you will have to change out the shitty pads.
>>
beyerdynamic dt880s
>>
You can get lucky on Ebay and score some V-MODA Crossfade M-100s for less than $130. Highs and bass emphasized greatly. Amazon asks for around $250. Whatever you pay, it's well worth the price.
>>
>>73638690
Good choice, the 598's are almost the same and if you do the foam mod (google it) within 10 minutes 558's will sound like 598's.
>>
Sennheiser HD 650's

Used my first paycheck on them years ago. No idea how they still work, things have been through hell.
>>
>>73641391
Would you recommend them?
>>
>>73641398
Without a doubt, love em to death. They benefit hugely from an amp though.
>>
Not sure what’s the point of open headphones when they are basically speakers

What’s the best closed headphones /mu/?
>>
>>73638690

These are pretty good for the price.

At least give some specifics. Do you want open, closed? What kind of sound do you want (bass, neutral, etc). Are you willing to buy an amp. Do you plan on buying an amp? Etc, etc

>>73641442
Again, specifics. "Best" means nothing

>when they are basically speakers
you do realize closed headphones and IEMs are basically speakers, too, right?
>>
>>73638723
Why the closed-back version? Closed-back is a meme for pussies that are afraid of a little leakage.

Unless you're wearing these outside, or literally sharing room with someone, I don't see why you would ever pick the closed-back version.
>>
>>73642343
no because people around you can’t hear what you’re listening to, unless you’ve got them really loud
>>
>>73642506
They are all speakers. An IEM is just a small speaker that fits in your ear canal.
>>
M40x here.
Best deal for the price in my opinion. Got used to how they feel on head, but I'm not sure if I should change the pads. What's the difference?
>>
>>73642577
You know what I meant.
>>
Still the best set of closed backs I've worn that balances looks with sound quality
>>
I've got the MrSpeakers Mad Dogs but they're fukken heavy as fuck. Recommend a comparable closed headphone around $250-300 w a balanced sound?

mummy bought me a pair of these for our plane trip (24hr+ each way) when we visit my sister and her family this Christmas

They are comfy as fuck, the noise cancellation isn't 100% but it's effective enough, main downside is that the headphone jack that comes with it is a bit short and the male end that goes into the headphones is smaller than the standard headphone jack so I can't just use it with my regular male to male headphone cables
>>
Bought a pair of these for gaymen in 2012 and I've never had an issue with them.

ATH-M50x, pretty good for someone who knows nothing about headphones and wants a solid pair of cans
>>
>>73638690
Superlux HD668B Dynamic Semi-Open Headphones aren't bad if you don't want to spend over $40
>>
I have a pair of ATH-Meme50's for home use. I've had them almost 10 years now and they're still going strong.

I have a £5 pair of Panasonic earbuds for outdoor use which haven't failed me yet. I always buy cheap buds because even the expensive ones have a tendency to break on me within 3 months. It's not out of negligence on my part, I just have really sweaty ears, like ridiculously sweaty.
>>

>I've had them almost 10 years now and they're still going strong.
That said the padding on the ear cups is beginning to crack
>>
Kinda related, I was thinking of getting portapros but they aren't even for sale here anymore. Are there any other close contenders? In-ears welcome too, I just want something small and easy to take with me on my way to work.

M-Audio HDH50

I think they are just marginally better than Sennheiser HD280's.
>>
are bose earphones any good
>>
>>73638690
I have what's in your pic but the ivory ones
I love them and the only issue is they could have more bass but it's not that big of a deal
>>
>>73640117
I heard they are pretty bad
>>
>>73646524
They're known for their nose cancelling, so if you're in a loud urban environment they're probably a good purchase

They're kinda overpriced though

Best headphones I've ever bought. Was using the x2 before.

Any cheaper alternatives?

I just bought a pair of these and have been fully underwhelmed so far... is it because I am using them with a macbook? Do I need an amp?

Good base, decent sound blockage, little to no leakage and some of the best separation I've ever heard.
