Is there anything worse than a right handed guitarist? I instantly turn them off if I see this. I don't listen to any music in which the guitarist is right handed. It's pure faggotry in music form.

Guys i don't know if this is the right place to ask, but can you help me figure out some chords from this song, please?

I'm a drummer and slowly learning to play guitar, i want to play a song from FF but i still can't figure chords by ear (I tried and only got the easy ones)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuE1vlACANA

Someone tried to transcribe them a year ago but didn't finish it. There's some chords and patterns missing, but it's almost done:

any of you here perform live?

I've been invited to perform a couple of times, and I'm faced with a particular issue.

I can literally never do the same song twice. For example, the first time I just did Rainbow's instrumental "Still I'm Sad", and I loathe playing that song now, even 4 years after. I can't even listen to it.
The second time I was invited to the event I played Pink Floyd's "Money", and ever since then I don't find it fun to play anymore and I always fucking skip it when I listen to DotM.

Recently (this past year) I've decided to record some guitar covers just for fun and to play around with my pedals, and I also noticed that whatever song I covered, I couldn't bear to listen to it after I was done covering it. This shit lasts for fucking months.

Is this normal?
>>
>>73576385
I think I do this too mate, yeah.

Probably because when recording the cover, your brain deconstructs the song to its bare components, so to speak.
You no longer listen to the song as a "whole", but rather small segments which make up the whole, as this is how you record the cover. Especially if you're playing all the different guitar parts, etc.

Almost like you've destroyed the song in your mind to see whats inside.

self setup
its not hard to set up a guitar
basically you set the intonation all the way down
then you raise the saddles up until it matches proper intonation
then you set the truss rod to have just a thin gap between the strings and the frets on the middle frets

also does it play nice with other pedals? thinking of stacking it with my barbershop pedal.

Pat Methany got a teaching job at University of Miami at 18.

And Gilbert developed a lot of technique at an early age. As a music school, MI places more emphasis on super technical guitar playing.because they have so many non-traditional music programs. Probably helped with his selection to the faculty.

You any kid of artist? Anybody know who you are? Maybe everybody else wants to enjoy the peace and quiet. This is one of the most important threads in the whole of /mu/. WHO ARE YOU? You miserable presumptuous no talent. . You’re no artist. An artist respects the silence that serves the foundation for creativity. You OBVIOUSLY don’t have the talent. You don’t have enough respect in yourself or other people or what it is to express yourself in music or any other form of creativity. I am a NYU phil school graduate SUCKA, and the school of visual arts AND the acedemtny of art universities San Francisco. YOU SUCK. YOU’RE A NO TALENT. If you really had talent, go practice, and then get yourself a gig instead of ruining the end of the day for everybody down here. YOU DISGRACE. YOU are everything that’s gone wrong in this world. You’re a self-consumed, no talent piece of shit and I’ve earned my right to say it. OKAY?! I had twenty thousand people come to me in 1975. I walked Bob Dylan up on stage, who the fuck are you? I knew the grateful dead from 1966. Who the fuck are you?! YOU NOTHING. YOU ARE NOTHING. AND YOU WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING. NEVER. How dare you. You miserable mediocre NOTHING. Shame on you. Your cracked stupid little smile, you little PIMP. Go and learn to play. YOU’RE FLAT. You can't even carry a fucking note.

Have not met my favorite guitarist (johnny greenwood), but I imagine it would be just like all the times I've met people in bands I have gone to see... >>73583760
Well The ampeg like I said I traded a Sunn 215 i got for $100 a while back, and it had tolex originally that was beat to shit. Spent the whole of spring stripping it, removing the leftover glue, sanding it and then staining and sealing it. The Verellen I just got in a trade for a vintage Sound City 200+ I had bought from the original owner for like $750. And trust me all my music music gear I've paid for myself, or traded up to, probably mostly trades now that I think about it.
>>
>>73583910
I feel ya, my main gigging cabs are tolexed, but I'd wager a beat stained wood cab from touring would look alot more pleasing than a beat to hell tolex cab. Plus all you'd need to do to fix is is sand and seal again. With beat tolex its alot more work to strip it then recut new tolex and glue it back on

I'm the opposite, I love it more the more I deconstruct it. I always find new little things I like about it. Of course, that might just be because I listen to music with depth, rather than dadrock tier pleb shit.

On the other hand my own songs get pretty boring to me once I'm done writing and recording demos, because there's nothing new to discover; I literally know everything about it. If I do discover something it's usually small mistakes, like when I pick a certain note too strongly or something is a little sharp, shit like that.
>>
>>73583611
>Like it matters after stain and velcro.

Uh bro oakwood is way too heavy, it'll absorb all the toan from your pedals, and the velcro and stain will do too. Its not too late though, you can still get ceramic feet for your pedals that'll shield the tone resonances from the wood. Good luck man.

This is a rock song

>>
>>73575907
i really love the punchy sound of the p bass and hate the back pickup of the j bass. the only time i like the j bass sound is when it's close to a pic 4003. which is better?

P bass or J bass?
>>
>>73587628
get a p with bridge j pickup
>>
>>73587608
>>73587618
I've always been drawn more towards the less common colors of non fender gibson brands. I'm not gonna pay the fender custom shop $6000 for a relived shell pink start.

so id go green but id go with a color that maybe would age better. like silver, yellow cream, a nice red or blue.
>>
>>73587628
A traditional P bass and J bass FEEL and play very differently. J bass is more versatile IMO but a P with a bridge pickup also works fine. Whatever floats your boat.
>>
>>73587645
not really a fan of the bridge j bass pickup i think you get that ric sound with both pickups turned all the way up on a j bass. i know the j bass is more versatile but come on it's a bass.

>>
>>73587678
That has more to do with your amp and speaker, a P bass actually has tons of mids which is why it sounds so "punchy". J bass with the neck pickup sounds nice and deep as well.
>>
>>73587676
i too like the bridge pup more for blending with the neck one
>>
>>73587676
>>73587701
Just the bridge pickup with the tone knob turned down and playing right over the pickup = great funk sound.
>>
>>73587697
ah so thats why the p is better than the j
>>
>>73587683
that looks nice. in the end get what you like. if you don't see yourself getting ap or j bass in fenders boring colors get your pictured bass in what you like.

If any of you are amp repair experts I could use your knowledge. I have an Ampeg SVT 350 and it got really hot one day without me knowing. It then shut off on its own. Then I turn it on now it makes robot sounds when I try playing though it and it gets really hot. I checked the fuse and it looks in tact. I just want to know if it would be under $300 dollars to get it fixed. The parts are really pricey online, but I don't know which one would be needed.

Tonewood is actually real, the effect is just subtle.

Watch this experiment which proves it:
Part 1: explanation of the experiment:

Part 2: the recorded tracks, proving that tone wood actually effects the sound

He literally transferred all the hardware from one guitar to the other, including all the pickups and neck. he made sure to play at the exact same location above the body, using the same pick, the same amp and the same mic position.

>>
>>73595347
why not get a used mim strat and a used amp?
>>
>>73595433
the brand really doesnt mean much about each guitar's quality
what you really have to look for when buying your guitar is to play them and see how their body and neck vibrate, and how they feel and are comfortable to play. 9 times out of ten, the guitar that sounds louder unplugged and you can feel that the whole body is resonating, will probably be the one that sounds better through the amp and will have a fuller sound through the frequency spectrum, and will certainly sound very pro when you upgrade the pickups.
>>
Thinking of buying a real cheap compressor pedal, cuz im broke. recommend?
>>
>>73595593
Idk how to play guitar so I wouldnt be able to test it man. Is a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster '50s good? Would I be able to use it professionally until I can upgrade?

It's a capo. It clamps down on the strings.
>>
>>73596784
Just stick to the fundamentals at first.
Basically, if you're new this is how I did it, and how other experienced musicians told me to do it:

They said to just play around with the guitar for a year. Take time to learn the basics and don't focus too much on theory, etc, during this time. Just play with the instrument, create sounds that you like, learn songs that you like, etc. Learn the basics of course, but just basically do what you feel like doing for the first year.
After this time, then begin to learn theory, etc.

You don't need great amps/pedals at first, since you won't be able to play shit. But maybe get a distortion pedal just because it's fun to use as a beginner.

But I don't know, man. Just do what you want at the end of the day. No one can really tell you I suppose
