If you're going to call yourself an "artist" then you might as well have some part in the creative process of a song. I think the difference is that they have a least some kind of hand in the creative process, whereas Beyoncé doesn't. Kanye started out making bedroom beats and still has an enormous hand in the process. Same thing with Kendrick and the other rappers you mentioned, they may have a lot of producers and songwriting help but they definitely have more control of the creative process than someone like Beyoncé who basically has no input.
Also, all of those rappers (except Kanye, but that's mostly part of his persona now and his fans are fairly ironic and chill about it) don't walk around as if they were the second coming of Jesus.
