I'll start
William Tyler
>>73537989
>Uses a Capo
>Greatest guitarist of the generation.

you must be joking, she is literally fucking trash
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11JiKTyMm7M
>dude you just dont get it
>its supposed to sound like that
>muh arty jazz rock!!!
literally 'pseudo interesting' shit
>>73538225
Does she literally think she's new Jimmy Page?
this white bitch need to understand that music follow certain rules. you just can't make up your own rules to music

Ïs this what the proghaters refer to as 'wank'? because i feel like it is
The suggestions so far make it painfully clear that no one ITT is any good at guitar at all.
>>73537989
I thought the thumbnail was Billy Joe Armstrong and that this was a troll thread. After opening the image I'm not sure it isn't him but I'm positive it's a troll thread.
Who counts as current generation? Like, do you want millenial guitarists?
>>73538225
this is actually pretty good
>>73538225
i just can't see her anymore without imagining her and cara eating each other out
>>73537989
No.
Just no. Pop music plus the occasional fuzzy solo doesnt equal guitarist of rhe generation. If you're going to go off female guitarists, atleast discuss whatsername from Screaming Females, that lady can shred.
>>73538225
even yoko ono would thing that was a pretentious preform jfc
>>73539218
who is that?
>>73539427
Spencer Seim
>>73539485
he look like he got divorced and lets his 13 year old son do whatever he wants
>>73539572
Being as the other half of his band has fucked off and just does Death Grips shit now, that's fairly accurate
>>73538225
I can appreciate that she is trying to do something "different". However, I can't listen to more than 2 minutes of this without getting a headache.
>>73538225
most of this is just good melodies played through distortion with some theatrical moments
>>73538225
this is so pointless its just sections yanked out of songs obviously it sounds like noodling without context
>>73539218
what's the name of that design?
>>73539218
i miss spencer
>>73541686
It's a Scott French SF0SS. It was made for Spencer specifically, I believe.
>>73537989
Just by this opinion I know you don't play any instrument. This board is full of plebs.
>>73542565
Would he count as this generation? He's been playing since 87'
>>73539228
This, I need a scope here so I can accurately post examples.
>>73538040
objectively
>>73543003
Glad somebody else gets it.
>people are still upset about St. Vincent
Every time. Can't wait till the new album drops.
>>73538206
sweet guitar
>>73543383
this nigga
>>73538225
This is pretty fucking fun, I don't know what you're all whining about
>>73538225
I'm not even sure what this video is supposed to be trying to tell people. Does the uploader think she's playing bad or does he not like how much distortion she's using? This video is basically just the performance with all the vocals removed. Notice it's only 14 minutes while the performance was 45+ minutes.
>>73538040
fuuuuuck, wednsday is gonna be lit
>>73539218
i miss hella, dg are good but notm is the only thing nearly as good as hella
>>73542565
the expert-O
>>73539336
How is this a bad thing
>>73538225
lmfao hahahahahhahahahaha
>that waddle like a penguin
ART, BRO!
>>73538225
Cringe. All the normies in the audience look baffled. They were expecting le quirky "so different" pop singer to do her boring hits but instead they got a lifetime supply of awful guitar wankery. All of my keks.
>>73543903
>St. Vincent
>hits
>>73538225
I love how unaware of how good the example you presented was at completely nullifying your point.
I had never heard of St Vincent thanks for that.
>>73538040
yes
>>73537989
lol fuck off
>>73538040
What's his best project?
>>73537989
Her uncle is a million times better
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtljYur4_T8
>>73546171
lol but not cute so no one knows
>>73545152
If you want pure, unadulterated Nick with a side of quality percussion then Swollen Brain.
Jonny obviously
>>73538040
What? Is Flight of The Conchords solely run by Murray now?
>>73548012
Kek, It's actually Murray and Germain's side project.
>>73538225
she's cute wtf
>>73538495
Just hung out with noam a few weeks ago. Kinda quiet. Super badass banjo though.
https://youtu.be/IamPRzl-R_I
>>73548054
As in
Stood awkwardly next to him while thile told a story.
>>73537989
I like her music but she seems too autistic for me to enjoy live
>>73537989
>female
>good guitarist
Pick one.
>>73538139
>doesn't use a capo
Does that make things too complicated for you junior?
>>73538225
She is so unbelievably attractive. Only thing that could bump that even more would be her being a bass player.
>>73550087
You must find your local crackwhore attractive as hell.
>>73550087
This but unironically.
>>73537989
>>73539218
why do people grow disgusting beards like that
beards are so fucking itchy
>>73550298
No?
Shaving every day is itchy, not having a beard.
>>73550236
Some of those live TCV performances are pure gold, he really peaked during that era.
Best vocals, best lyrics.
>>73550320
ITT people with no facial hair
Shaving everyday isn't itchy, having a beard isn't itchy, it's the 4-5 days it takes to grow out that's itchy.
>>73549302
Haha Mac looks like hes boutta piss his pants
>>73549302
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT NATHAN FIELDER ON GUITAR?
Should also note, that guy from Chon and the frontman (Dylan) from Tiny Moving Parts
>>73551157
>>73541408
definitely up there, didn't he win best guitarist of the year like two years running 98 and 99 or some shit? desu though don't know what's counting as this generation cuz nearly 20 years ago seems abit far off
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOmKGjy-Ct0
>>73538694
I thought this was Jonny Greenwood for a sec so I was about to type yes
>>73551889
Literally the only good guitar player in this thread. Its also sad because apparently the only talented guitarist of this generation is a wanker.
incredibly overrated, some of his fingerpicking is fucking impossible to play cleanly
>>73552195
damn phone autocorrect, underrated*
>>73538225
>the drummer wears earmuffs so he can't hear the girls playing
>>73552195
Is that the guy from grizzly bear?
>>73550075
I think there's a real criticism in that using a capo makes a guitar "easier" in that chord progressions are even easier to come up with
>>73538225
lol it sounds like a kazoo
>>73538225
really makes you think...
>>73550236
i like grimes but fuck her sense of style is atrocious
>96 replies
>no mention of the malk
>>73538225
wtf thats shit
when I'm bored I record myself, add a lot of effect shit on audacity and sounds like that.
>2014: "I still remember going to the CD World and buying The Sensual World when I was sixteen. And the cover, there’s a rose in front of her mouth that has bloomed, she’s got big wide eyes. And I remember, you know, putting it in the shitty car stereo on the way home, and you know, my life was forever changed.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4sLwt8mhZs
46:47
>2007: "And I also— this may sound really silly— but I just discovered Kate Bush, probably six months ago, and I think she’s so great. I know I’m very late to the party here [laughs], I know this is old news, but I got a Kate Bush record, and I forget— I think “The Dreaming” is on it, though I’m spacing on the name of the record.”

>>73553181
we are talking about good musicians
>>73553252
ouch, you bruised my tripfag ego.
>>73550396
there are two kinds of men in this world: those who are lazy, and those who deserve to wear a beard.
the majority of fags with facial hair on this board definitely fall into the first category.
>>73541408
>this generation
>>73537989
What is the cut off point for this current generation?
Charlie Christian, Django, Wes Montgomery. Those cats are probably generation 1.
Then you've got all the hippies from the 60's and 70's. Generation 2 I guess. Hendrix Page Gilmoure.
Then you've got these neoclassical shredders. Generation 3. Steve Vai, Tony MacAlpine, Yngwie.
Then you've got all the folks that have come and gone since then.
Tosin Abasi (animals as leaders), Feodore Dosumov (impact fuze), Daniel Davidsen (jazzkamikazi).
I think the best guitarists came from the hippie era.
The jazz cats were good but I don't care much for jazz guitar. It doesn't speak to me are clearly as saxophone jazz. The guitar is a tricky instrument though. Jaz guitar is difficult to play.
Hippie guitar might be easy to learn and play but I feel like that era shaped the guitar the most. A jimmy page solo speaks to me more than some crazy Paul Gilbert solo thing.
But desu... I'm the best guitarist right now c:
>>73551889
>>73552027
See my post just now>>73553632
Tosin is good. He's the best music composer in my book right now. He's also got mad chops. But!!! Check out the other two cats I mentioned. Feodor might not write animals as leaders style music but his improv chops are light years ahead of tosin. Tosin doesn't improvise.
>>73551179
this
>>73537989
Guthrie Govan is better than everyone posted ITT
>>73553632
You can go deeper. There's the guitar rockabilly legends, surf guitarists that ruled the early 60s, old nigger blues guitarists from the 20s, 70s blues rawkers, late 80s new wave and alternative artists, late 90s soft blues guitarists, 2000s garage rockers, 2010s Is what we're arguing about. In reality there's a new "#1" every 2-5 years and probably every 6 months to a year of you're actively searching
>>73551179
I was gunna post this, Dwyer is incredible
>>73538225
>there are people itt who are too pleb for fucking st vincent
EL OH EL
>>73550075
>>73553244
Waste of dubs.
