The biggest criticism people have for DIIV is that Cole is annoying/weird. Their music is relatively simple and relaxing, so I don't understand why they get such a negative rep.

I love them, but I can understand how people would dislike it. Some of the songs are really long, and most people can't even handle a 6 minute song. And the average person doesn't really care for lyricless music.

I dislike Godspeed. It's only appealing when you buy into the 'capitalism-is-fascism, art-is-not-commodity' bullshit. Take that away and you're left with a pretty mundane movie soundtrack.

I'll grant there's some pretty cool moments on LYSF... but it always gets cockblocked by something melodramatic.

I can see bland, but its so easy on the ears. It creates an atmosphere thats so versatile in most settings. Not to mention an easy gateway to electronic music.
