/production/ question: how do you create that lofi distorted bass that sounds like blown out speakers or like it's "bottoming out" found all over The Money Store, notably on Double Helix?

I'm literally not a musician at all, but to me it sounds like sampling a clip of someone playing a bass heavy track on their sound system. The recording should distort it enough to the point where it sounds bouncy and blown out like you said.

I want to have a synth set up to make that sound so I can play whatever I want

yeah idk man. Maybe try and introduce some clipping into a distorted bass synth and see where that goes.

I always wanted to know this so bump
Waveshaping distortion, Or tube amp emulation (comes with LMMS, I think it's from the LAPSDA library). Basically hard clipping, except the waveform flattens more gradually.

square wave

Sounds cool but expensive. Sonically what is going on?
Bit reduction
The sound is also in the Kanye songs Niggas in Paris and On Sight
