anyone know anything about (bear with me) hi-fi cassette systems? I ran into a nakamichi 582 deck today for $5 bucks that surprisingly still works completely. I'm going to go get the belts replaced and the mechanism regreased by somebody who knows what they're doing. But otherwise, I know next to nothing about stereo systems or any of that shit. I still would love to get it hooked up as I have a stash of old bootlegs I found at a garage sale i'd love to listen to.
so my question now is what else besides speakers do I need to get this thing working once its back out from the shop? do i need a preamp or receiver or some shit? If so, what should I be looking into, vintage new or otherwise. also, what are some good small bookshelf speakers to pick up? I do plan on getting a 1200 or plx turntable here in soon, this kind of planted the seed to getting an audio set-up put together.

jump on that, anon
get a vintage integrated amp (that's an amp + a phono preamp in one unit)
you'll be able to plug everything straight into it
for small bookshelf I'd go with Klipsch
if you have an ipod or iphone you can plug that in the aux of the amp also, or alternatively plug the audio out of your computer into it
This shit will last you forever
nice find anon. as a 90s bootleg trader, this post makes me happy.
I still have a bunch of old rare marching band promo tapes I need to rip to digital at some point
