You are not supposed to, as lyrics in shoegaze are used an another layer of instrumentation. If you're going to listen to the album, go with 320 kbps MP3.

He actually mixed it so it would sound perfect on CD. make sure your download is not transcoded. also try the remix version. with a decent pair of speakers it should be possible to just make out what the words are on most of the songs with a few exceptions. I believe the singing parts "i only said" and "soon" have multiple lyrics going at once which makes it indecipherable. once I figured out the words to "what you want" and I can't go back to not be able to hear them.
