i don't know but he is a legend

yes he's a genius
Patti Smith has several good albums, he certainly wasn't carrying her. But he has had a remarkable career, forgot he was on Bryter Later as well.

>he was on Bryter Later
This one always seemed weird for me. He already is an underground legend for being in TVU and producing The Stooges first album, and he is able to get Joe Boyd to allow him to work on Ncik's album. Nick was a literally who at the time and the album doesn't receive much fanfare. Years later Nick is recognized as a genius and his works highly praised, adding another notch to John Cale's belt of achievements. Of course I'm not in the music industry, but what are the odds a guy could become involved in so many legendary projects?

This, Paris 1919 as a whole is a perfect record. Was listening to Fragments of a Rainy Season like five minutes ago, definitely one of my favourite live albums.
